Edgar has over 20 years of experience in financial services, he brings a multidisciplinary background spanning investment banking, secured lending, project finance, and private equity. His career began in external audit with a focus on the insurance sector, conducting audits for major institutions including Allianz and Alexander Forbes. He then transitioned into financial markets with Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) Agricultural Derivatives, followed by a key role in secured lending and asset finance at ABSA, contributing to finance and product structuring in home loans and commercial portfolios. Edgar’s path later led him into investment holding structures with Thebe Investment Corporation, where he gained deep exposure to group-level as a group accountant with asset management and portfolio oversight value above R3 billion, including Shell South Africa, Vodacom, CMH Group, Safripol and Thebe Mohebe (Joint Venture with Saudi Based logistics group). He then advanced to serve as Chief Operating Officer, and Head of Business Development at IDF Capital, a multi-fund venture capital and private equity manager—solidifying his expertise in early- and growth-stage capital deployment, fund governance, and impact investing. The fund’s asset under management is R2,5 billion.
